Welcome to Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement

Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement (BLMS)

 Is located 50 km southwest of Lac La Biche,
 The Caslan school is operated by North Lights School Div. #69 and offers grades K-9
 BLMS has a population of 1353 (as per Census of 2006 – Statistics Canada)
 BLMS has the second largest population, with Paddle Prairie Métis Settlement with 1,464 members
 BLMS land base is 34,707 hectares – BLMS is sitting at sixth for land base size with East Prairie at seventh and Elizabeth at eighth the smallest settlement.
 Post-secondary programs are offered at Portage College in Lac La Biche – however no residents at the college.
 BLMS has a community centre, youth centre, Catholic & Evangelical Church, Métis local office, recreation grounds and war memorial.
 The Tribal police are responsible for safety & security for the community.
 Economic diversity: oil & gas; construction; transportation; forestry and outdoor recreation.
