Alberta's community-based teacher education programs support the attraction and retention of teachers in Alberta's northern and First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities. These programs provide opportunities to prospective teachers who want to study while living and working in their community. They also support K-12 student success, as community-based teachers have an in-depth understanding of their students.
